Does this sound familiar?
You feel overwhelmed every time you start your reo journey again. You're tired of a lack of clarity in your previous courses, and differences in teachings, or feeling guilty about not using your reo enough at home. You've tried to grow your knowledge, your vocabulary, and even placing labels around the house as a reminder (yup, they're still there) but nothing seems to stick for long.

The truth?
Many reo practitioners are speakers first, educators second - and new ones at that. You need a Teacher, someone who's spent their life understanding learning environments and individual student needs.

And when you're brave enough to step into your reo journey aside from all of the adversities you've had to face, YOU DESERVE NO LESS.

What is Ngāpuhi ki roto?

Here in the heart of Ngāpuhi are some of the most renowned orators and reo Māori speakers of today.

Our tamariki at Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Kaikohe have access to world-class learnings and this unique mita, however many of our national reo Māori speakers and teachers have had to learn from such institutions as Waikato University, Takiura, Te Whare Wānanga o Te Awanuiārangi. Most formal institutions favour their local mita (dialect), sentence structures, colloquialisms and vocabulary, or lack consistency altogether, and so in mainstream reo Māori education these teachings are hard to access.

On our reo course, you'll learn:

  • Reo specific to Ngāpuhi ki roto, Te Pū o te Wheke

  • Expert grammatical sentence structures

  • Intricacies of our reo from expert linguist Victor Mokaraka
